A natural performer, Nicky enrolled at the GSMD as their youngest singer, taking up a scholarship where he is currently completing his final year of the Opera Course studying with John Evans. Already a tenor in demand, Nicky's personality attracted the young Scotsman a long-term recording contract with Universal Classics and increasing worldwide recognition on stage, radio and television as a presenter and performer alike. In recital and opera, he has performed on platforms all over the world from the Wigmore Hall to the Collesium. A proud Britten-Pears Young Artist and Samling Scholar, his awards include the Kathleen Ferrier Young Singer’s Bursary, a Young Classical Performer of the Year nomination at the Classical Brits, and a place in the final of the Gold Medal at the GSMD.
Nicky’s future plans include a place at the National Opera Studio, recitals at Leeds Lieder+ festival, A Britten Song-Cycle series for Radio 3, Tom Rakewell The Rake’s Progress for BYO, Jacquino Fidelio for Opera Holland Park, Kochkaryov The Marriage, Pyramus Pyramus and Thisbe & Sailor Dido and Aeneas for the Opera Project and a CD of Alun Hoddinott Songs.
