Born in Denmark, Lise Christensen studied singing at The Royal Danish Academy of Music and at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Whilst at the GSMD, Lise won the Schubert Prize, The Crompton Lieder Award and The Philharmonia Chorus’ Prize. She completed her studies at The National Opera Studio, supported by The Friends of Covent Garden, a Jean Dunlop Bursary and the Sybil Tutton Charitable Trust. She is also a Samling Scholar.
Lise’s operatic engagements have included the Mezzo roles in FIVE:15 Made in Scotland 2008 and 2009 for Scottish Opera, Prins Orlovsky for Scottish Opera on Tour, Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (cover) for Welsh National Opera, the title role in Carmen for Mid Wales Opera,,Dejanira Hercules (cover) at The Buxton Festival, Meg Page Falstaff for Stanley Hall Opera and Alisa Lucia di Lammermoor for New Sussex Opera, Aristeo Orfeo St John’s Smith Square and Dorabella for GSMD
Lise’s concert performances include Beethoven Choral Symphony with The Manchester Camerata in Bridgewater Hall, Rossini Stabat Mater in The Brangwyn Hall, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle with The Philharmonia Chorus, a Gala with Ten Tors Orchestra and Third Lady Die Zauberflöte with The Oxford Philomusica. Repertoire further include Bach St. John Passion, Handel Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Haydn Theresienmesse Vivaldi Gloria, Verdi and Mozart Requiem, Mendelssohn Elijah, Elgar The Music Makers and Karl Jenkins Mass for Peace.
